The desired
kitchen space was achieved by taking the three original rooms:
breakfast room, galley kitchen, pantry and opening it up into
one continuous space. A wall at the end of the house was taken
out to open the kitchen to an original back porch. New french
doors where installed leading out to a new steel balcony &
stair to the street level.
The space
was to designed to be clean, sophisticated, and contemporary minimum
detail. A center large island 4' x 7' in size divides the space
from the new dining area. It features glass doors for china storage
on the dining room side and dishwasher with sink on the kitchen
aisle side. The cabinets are dark cherry mission style set off
by light granite countertops. The appliances in contrast are stainless
steel and feature a surface color of graphite gray. The refrigerator
panel was fitted with wood panel to match the cabinets and conceal
it's stainless steel front.
